Drawing and painting

Tuesday 16:00 to 17:15 for Primary students

The drawing and painting class seeks to empower children to communicate, explore the world around them, represent and express themselves, work individually and in groups, stimulate their imagination and help their integral development.

Throughout the course, the children will draw, paint, construct, and deconstruct, using various materials (colored pencils, watercolor pencils, cardboard, markers, felt …) but, above all they are going to have fun playing/experimenting and enhancing their creativity through art.

Primary school children are at the ideal age to delve more deeply into their artistic abilities. This class will help them find and generate alternative ideas to challenging creative problems, while finding ways to tolerate frustration better in their day-to-day lives.

Our teacher, Julia Muñoz has a degree in Fine Arts and has dedicated her career to professional graphic design and illustration, working for private companies and as a freelancer. Currently, she teaches drawing and painting to children, and teaches/works on artistic projects with students with disabilities.

Materials Fee (one time payment): €30 (non-refundable)
Monthly Fee: €38

Theater and Puppetry

Wednesday 16:00-17:15 for Primary students

This mostly outdoor workshop aims to develop a wide range of communication skills through theater and its various forms, with a special emphasis on visual theater (puppets, shadow theater, theater with objects and materials) due to its universality in language and its ability to delve into the innate poetics and imagination of girls and boys.

The approach of this workshop is to guide the students as if they were embarking on a magical journey, where play serves as the primary tool and wellspring of inspiration. In this way, students will not only grasp theatrical concepts but also enhance both individual and collective self-esteem, fostering group cohesion and confidence. As well, diverse ways of conveying ideas and emotions will be explored, all while having fun. These experiences directly and positively influence students’ emotional management abilities and set the stage for healthy relationships with their environment, attentive listening, and respect.

Theater promotes multiple values and helps us understand ourselves, but it also allows us to work with multiple disciplines such as costumes, music, writing, the creation of sets or lighting, uncovering hidden talents. Similarly, puppets take on a vital role as a teaching tool, helping to simplify even the trickiest concepts and break down barriers that once seemed impossible to overcome. The manual and artistic elements involved in crafting puppets cultivate motor skills and concentration, simultaneously nurturing the symbolic universe within each participant. Though play remains the central goal, it will contribute to the creation of small projects that families can enjoy together.

The class is led by Nelo Sebastián, a versatile artist who wears many hats: actor, director, puppet maker, musician, and poet. He’s the driving force behind Vudú Teatro, his own theater company, and regularly collaborates with others throughout Europe. With a rich background, Nelo has always been keen on sharing his knowledge. He’s crafted an engaging path through various workshops and projects like “mitología de barrio,” “tras la sombra del objeto,” and “tu universo poético.” These workshops have unfolded in schools, associations, and a range of NGOs. Notably, his work has gained recognition from esteemed institutions like the University of Valencia and UNIMA International. His website is: www.vuduteatro.com

Music

‘MUSIC with Marie Hagén’

Thursdays from 16:00-16:50 for Primary Students and children born in 2018

Music is a universal language with which we are all capable of communicating and expressing ourselves. It is an art that combines several dimensions: body, mind, emotions and spirituality. It helps us connect with the present moment, discover our voice and body (as the first instrument we make sound with), improve memory, motor coordination, self-control, sensitivity as well as helping us to feel belonging to a group and express emotions and feelings.

The approach to this workshop is to explore and grow musically through working with the voice, body and mind together. Science shows that play based learning is the most efficient (and fun) way to learn. Therefore breathing techniques, voice agility, sound creation, rhythm & pitch training and music theory will be communicated in a playful, uplifting and non judgemental way. Musical perfection is not the goal for this workshop. Learning, growth and the enjoyment of music & the voice is what we are striving for.

The class is led by Marie Hagén, a Swedish voice teacher, singer and songwriter. Marie received her music education at Kulturama music school studying ccm(commercial contemporary music) genres followed by KMI(Stockholms Kommunala Musikinstitut) jazz program in Stockholm.

Marie has teaching experience in Europe and Asia as a private voice teacher in Kulturama music school in Sweden, B-Flat studios in Singapore and Bangalore School of Music in Bangalore, India. She enjoys working with both beginners to professional vocalists, children to adults, in the pop & jazz genres. Marie has also worked as a primary & secondary years music teacher in public schools in Stockholm, Sweden. She has been appointed music director for several choirs, Fisksätra gospel choir and Source of Joy gospel choir in Stockholm and Valencia Vocals currently in Valencia. Marie has also worked full time as a session vocalist and back up vocalists for major international singers on tours and television.
